What Is Cialis?
Cialis (Tadalafil)is a prescripton drug used to treat erectile
dysfunction in men. Cialis, pronounced (see-AL-is), has been proven
to help improve erectile dysfunction for up to 36 hours compared to a
placebo. Through clinical studies, patients began seeing the effects of Cialis in
as little as 30 minutes. Cialis may help a man get and sustain
an errection but does not cure erectile dysfunction or increase
a man's sexual desire. Cialis is not intended for women or children
and it must be taken under the care of a doctor.
How Does Cialis Work?
Erectile dysfunction is a condition in which blood flow is not
increased in the penis when a man is sexually eroused. The result
is a lack of an erection, or hard swelling of the penis. Cialis
works to improve the supply of blood flow to the penis and may
help men get and sustain an erection. Cialis was shown to work
in men over the age of 18 years that suffer from erectile dysfunction.
Who Should Not Take Cialis?
First, talk to your doctor to see if Cialis is right for you.
But some guidlines include:
- do not take Cialis if you are taking any medications called
nitrates.
- do not take Cialis if you are taking medications called "alpha
blockers" other than Flomax®.
- do not take Cialis if you have been told by your healthcare
provider not to have sexual activity because of other health
issues.
What Are Common Side Effects of Taking Cialis?
In clinical studies, the most common side effects of taking Cialis
was upset stomach, headache, muscle ache, and backache. While taking
Cialis most men were not bothered enough to quit taking it. In
clinical trials, the discountinued rate for men taking Cialis 10mg and
20mg was 3.1%.
How Should Cialis Be Taken?
Cialis comes in different doses (5mg, 10mg, and 20mg) and the
recommended starting dosage is 10mg. Cialis should be taken only ONCE
DAILY. Some men are started out on a lower dose of Cialis,
depending on your medical history. The patient should take Cialis
30 minutes before beginning sexual activity. In some patients their
erectile dysfunction and ability to have sexual activity was improved
for 36 hours after taking Cialis. It is recommended that you speak
to your doctor about appropriate times to take Cialis. Do not change
the dose of Cialis you are taking without talking to your doctor.
Do not drink alcohol excessively while taking Cialis as it may
increase the chance of headaches and/or dizziness.
Is Cialis Available In The United States?
Yes, it was approved by the FDA on November 22,
2003. Cialis has been available in Europe and other Eastern Countries
for more than a year, but you could not buy Cialis until recently
in the United States. Cialis is offered in the United States by
